It Hurts to Be Human: Turning Pain into Power

with Andrew Holecek
Price: $195.00

Life is full of challenges. Not surprisingly, the spiritual path itself is filled with obstacles, detours, and snares—countless ways we can be ambushed or get stuck. In this online workshop, we will explore the many ways we suffer and how we can work with physical and psychological pain.

Where does bodywork and therapy fit in? Why does it seem so hard to get enlightened? In trying to alleviate our pain, we can fall into subtle traps, from spiritual bypassing to spiritual materialism to escapism. What are the blind spots on the path and how can we transform them?

Using integral approaches from Yoga, the wisdom traditions, philosophy, psychology, and neuroscience, we will bring these obstacles to light and use them to accelerate the path. This workshop will include contemplations, guided meditations, and plenty of time for discussion.

Live sessions with Andrew on Friday at 7–9 pm, Saturday at 11 am–2 pm and 3:30–6:30 pm, and Sunday at 11 am–2 pm and 3:30–5:30 pm ET.

The main program sessions are live and all sessions are in ET. The live sessions will be recorded and posted to the Online Programs access page if you are unable to join us live for that session. Recordings* are usually posted within one day and are available to program participants and presenter(s) only.
*You're welcome to turn off your camera if you don't wish your image to be recorded.

You will have access to the video recordings for 8 weeks after the program ends, until June 27.

In addition, you will have access to the Ashram’s Live Hatha Yoga classes at 5 pm ET, recorded Ashram meditations, and inspiring talks with Sri Swami Satchidananda. You will also have access to an online social community to connect and communicate with other participants about this course.

The seminar with Andrew Holecek was one of the deepest and most profound I have ever experienced. He is a very gifted and wholehearted teacher. — Jasmine B.

I have been studying with Andrew Holecek for many years. He is my favorite Western teacher due to his tremendous ability to synthesize the Eastern wisdom and practice tradition with modern Western science and psychology. I attend every single teaching of his that I can get to - he is that useful to me. — Lindsay V.

Andrew's depth of personal experience of the practices combined with his broad knowledge of the Buddhist teachings on death makes him a particularly adept guide. His personal anecdotes make his teaching authentic and accessible. It was a joy to study with him. — Dr. Ina R.
